British Airways Engineering and Maintenance
At British Airways, our fleet is maintained by more than 4,000 highly skilled engineering colleagues. We look after our aircraft at bases around the UK at London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Cardiff, and Glasgow. We have engineers stationed at more than 50 airports around the world.
Our team is dedicated to upholding British Airways' worldwide reputation for safety, quality and reliability. We’re also at the forefront of driving change and bringing game-changing ideas to life. From Concorde to the first lie-flat seats, from Starlink to our new First suite, our engineering teams make change happen.
On any given day, our people will be working around the clock on anything from routine checks while an aircraft is at the terminal between flights to major modifications like Starlink and in-depth heavy maintenance checks, complex inspections and repairs. From the seats you sit in and the galleys where your food and drink are prepared to the advanced turbofan engines and aircraft avionics systems that sit at the cutting edge of aviation technology, our people look after them all.
We embrace the latest technology, which helps us see around corners and predict when aircraft will need work. We use data to drive our decision-making and optimise our processes. As our fleet becomes more technologically advanced, we know our people and systems must keep pace.
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. That means an airworthy fleet, it means protecting our customers and society by keeping our aircraft the safest in the skies, and it means our people carry out their jobs in a safe working environment.
If safety is at the core of what we do, our people are at the core of who we are. Every year we seek to recruit around 70 apprentices and 30 graduates. From our newest engineers to our colleagues who have been with us 50+ years, our people are unite behind one goal – to be the safest and most reliable in everything they do.
