British Airways Holidays updates Avios proposition, rewarding customers with six Avios per £1 spent

Jumeirah Soller Mallorca

•From 24 November, members of The British Airways Club can collect 6 Avios for every £1 spent on British Airways Holidays packages.
•The model demonstrates a simpler and more rewarding way to collect Avios on holidays.
•Over 1/3 of UK adults would use earned loyalty points to reduce the cost of a future holiday.¹

British Airways Holidays is launching an updated Avios proposition, making it simpler and more rewarding for customers to collect Avios on their holiday packages.

Launching on 24 November 2026, members of The British Airways Club booking a holiday package with British Airways Holidays can collect 6 Avios for every £1 spent on the total package price. Avios will be calculated on the full booking value and divided equally between all travellers on the booking. Club members will be able to collect their individual share or choose to pool their Avios through a Household Account.

The change makes it simpler for customers to understand how many Avios they can collect, while also making booking with British Airways Holidays even more rewarding, so that each holiday helps pay for the next. It also brings the way Club members collect Avios more closely in line with how they can earn tier points, creating a clearer and more consistent rewards experience.

This replaces the current approach, in which all customers collect Avios on the flight element of their holiday package and the lead passenger can also collect 1 bonus Avios for every £1 spent on the holiday package booking.

The difference can be significant. Under the new proposition, an example holiday package for two to Crete could see each traveller collect 11,316 Avios – more than 20,000 Avios in total and enough for them to secure a one-way Reward Flight to Paris each, using 10,000 Avios, plus £2.50.² Previously, the lead booker could have collected 5,462 Avios and the second traveller 1,690 Avios from just the flight element of the booking.

It comes as new YouGov Plc. research, commissioned by British Airways Holidays, highlights the role rewards can play when customers are deciding where to book. 40% of UK adults said it was important that the money they spent on a holiday also helped them save towards future travel, (e.g. in terms of rewards/loyalty points, etc.), whilst over 1/3 (35%) of UK adults would be mostly likely to use earned loyalty points to reduce the cost of a future holiday.¹

Andrew Flintham, Managing Director at British Airways Holidays, said: “For many people, a holiday is the ultimate reward, so we want booking one to feel rewarding too. For Avios collectors, that relationship should be symbiotic. A holiday should not only be somewhere they can spend their Avios; it should also help them build their balance towards whatever comes next. Our aim is to create a simpler and more compelling offer for our Club members. Whether those Avios help reduce the cost of another holiday, contribute towards a future flight or make an upgrade possible, it means the value of the holiday can continue long after customers return home.”

The updated proposition strengthens the connection between holidays and loyalty. Alongside collecting Avios, Club members can already use Avios to reduce the price of a British Airways Holidays booking, making city breaks, beach escapes or winter getaways more affordable. It also forms part of British Airways Holidays Promise to deliver value beyond price, combining rewards with the benefits and reassurance of booking a package, including carefully selected hotels, a dedicated 24-hour support line, low deposit options and generous luggage allowance.

Notes to Editors:
¹All figures, unless otherwise stated, are from YouGov Plc. Total sample size was 2,063 UK adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between 24th - 25th September 2026. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all UK adults (aged 18+).
²Example based on holiday package for two at £1886pp. Reward Flight/s based on one-way off-peak Economy Reward Flight.

British Airways Club members can create a free Household Account, allowing up to seven people, including children, to pool their Avios into a shared balance. This makes it easier for families and households to collect Avios together and use their combined balance towards future travel. Members continue to earn tier points individually.
