To celebrate the occasion, the airline has today launched a flash sale for customers booking flights between Bangaluru and London Heathrow. The sale includes up to 20% off fares in World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabin, offering savings of up to INR 26,000*.
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said: “We are proud to mark 20 years of connecting Bengaluru and London - which reflects our continued commitment to India over the past two decades.
“This anniversary is also a celebration of our people and partnerships that have made it possible - from our dedicated colleagues to the communities we serve. As we look to the future, we’re excited to welcome more customers on board and continue strengthening the cultural and economic ties between India and the UK.”
British Airways operated a special anniversary flight from London Heathrow to Bengaluru, served entirely by Indian cabin crew. The flight touched down early this morning, which paid tribute to the airline’s enduring relationship with India and its commitment to delivering a personalised service that resonates with the diverse communities it serves.
Among the crew were Bengaluru-based team members who also celebrate 20 years of service with the airline. British Airways’ Global Cabin Crew Team Leader, George Muthalaly said; “Being part of British Airways for the past 20 years has been an incredible journey and seeing our Bengaluru route grow from its very first flight to what it is today fills me with great pride. I’ve had the privilege of serving thousands of customers whose stories have stayed close to my heart, we have grown with them and their families. Celebrating this milestone feels personal, it is not just about the flights, it is about the connections we have helped create between India and the UK.”
Since launching flights to Bengaluru in 2005, British Airways now operates daily flights from Kempegowda International Airport to London Heathrow, offering seamless access to the airline’s hub and more than 190 onward destinations across 65 countries worldwide.
The airline now offers 56 direct flights each week across five major cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. India is British Airways’ second-largest international market after the United States, which reflects the airline’s long-standing commitment to India, a country the airline has served for more than 100 years.
British Airways recently introduced a Meet and Assist service for travellers requiring additional support when flying from India to the UK. Since its launch in March, the service has supported over 5,500 customers, offering personalised assistance at all five Indian airports. Trained staff fluent in local languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, and Tamil ensure a smooth and stress-free travel experience.
British Airways has now delivered more than 1,000 initiatives across the business, as part of its £7 billion (INR 73.5 crores) transformation plan. Starting next year, the airline will roll out complimentary, lightning-fast Starlink Wi-Fi for every customer in every cabin, offering gate-to-gate connectivity for streaming, working, and staying connected on multiple devices.
This initiative follows the launch of new lounge concepts in Miami and Dubai, the delivery of over 35 new aircraft, and the adoption of cutting-edge AI technology that has boosted the airline’s punctuality to its best levels since 2012.
